I tried to give it that feel of comfort, exploration, warmth and ambiance.
Hopefully that feeling went into the painting.

This is a beautiful piece. The tree becomes an evocative figure-- the way that it is twisted, bent over, and reaching outward into the expanse behind it, gives the tree personality. I feel that it has it's own story to tell.

Your colors are surreal and dream like, hinting at things in motion besides what is rendered. The pale, misty background is the most powerful part of your piece, I think, because it definitely reads as empty space (which the two figures must be wandering through) and the negative space around the tree is also very interesting. I think the one thing working against you with the white fog is the way that it gives a "halo" around the tree, making it appear flat in those areas. I think if you remove a bit of the halo, it will help the piece.

Overall this piece does evoke a sense of wanderlust for me. I feel the figures' anticipation and awe as they are about to follow the tree's guidance and step out into the void.
