Junkbot Battle by DanilLovesFood Junkbot Battle by DanilLovesFood
I got inspired by the Junkbot I already once made, then I started watchin FLCL. Which has like the coolest fighting scenes.. got me inspired. Got the OST and particularly the song 'Advice' got my engine running on this one.

No references. All from scratch. I think some 6-8 hours spend on it today. I'm happy I finally made something dynamic.

Advice is my favourite song on the FLCL OST as well, haha.
I absolutely love this piece, the poses are great.
And you're excellent at environments (thanks for doing a tutorial, I'll have to try it sometime).

I love the concept! The poses and sense of impact and movement are really there! The tilted angle really adds to the dynamic nature of the piece too.

The only thing I want is to be closer to the action! The big scale really is clear with the tiny figures on the bottom right. The figures are so far below me though that I don't relate to them and since they are so far to the right they don't add that much depth to the piece either to make the robots seem even bigger. I would like to see some closer foreground observing human figures to really emphasize the robots size.

The robots are so far away that they get drowned out by that vast opened sky. It might just be me but I don't think the clouds in the sky add anything to this awesome combat. The hazy buildings and debris do really push the robots forward and catch my eye which is awesome. I am not sure how close the robots are to the haze though and i think the fog could be used to sell the robots size as well. The game Shadow of the Colossus really used the fog to give more size to the already huge giants in the game.

And yes, the robots in FLCL were awesome.
